"I'm nursing a theory lately that goes something like this: abstract painting has undergone a
revival lately because feminism has lifted the prestige of art forms such as fiber art, ceramics,
sources (if only at the level of visual grammar) that carry abstract painting out of the impasse
of the old abstract expressionism -- based on a mixture of gesture, extreme psychology and
architecture. Of course I can't make my theory fit every example, but this painting could be me
