| Virginia A. Erdie Born 1958 in Fairmont, WV. Graduated BFA from The Maryland Institute, College of Art 1986. Graduated The School of the Art Institute of Chicago 1989. Exchange student on scholarship - Central School of Art and Design, London, UK 1984-1985. Virginia Erdie has been creating fine art for over 30 years. Her earlier, surreal portfolio focuses on crooked politics, sociological underpinnings that affect the individual, and dark experiences from her years as an art therapist with the criminally insane in locked, psychiatric settings. Also included in her large portfolio of work are paintings mimicking "The Trickling Down Effect", including a larger-than-life penis with bullets, sitting atop a map of the world with bullets also lodged in areas where the United States has bombed repeatedly. Later, she steps down from her political and satirical works to observe the beauty in nature and science, creating a portfolio of abstract paintings appreciated by designer and collectors. She also practices art therapy and teaches art to children and adults. For these purposes, she views the process of creating art to be of equal importance as the final product. |
